Dog Thrown From Moving Car Finds Healing and a Best Friend in a Cat

It’s hard to believe anyone could be so heartless, but in a small South Carolina town, witnesses saw a dog being tossed out of a moving car. Thankfully, kind locals acted fast and contacted a nearby rescue group.

That’s where Koda’s story began.

A Fresh Start in New York

After hearing about the incident, Jackie and her husband from Long Island, NY, felt they had to help. They adopted the injured pup, gave her the name Koda, and brought her home to meet their other pet – a sweet cat named Mia.

What they didn’t expect? Koda instantly became Mia’s biggest fan.

Dog Meets Cat… and It’s Love at First Sight

From the moment Koda entered the house, she was glued to Mia’s side. She followed her everywhere and copied her behavior, even using a gentle paw tap to get her attention – just like a cat would.

But while her spirit was strong, her body still carried signs of trauma. After being thrown from the car, Koda had suffered a leg fracture and a growth plate injury.

Health Troubles Resurface

At first, she seemed to be healing well, and the vets told Jackie to just keep an eye on her. For a while, things were great. Koda and Mia played nonstop and built a strong bond. But then, things took a turn.

Jackie noticed Koda was in pain, and another vet visit revealed the issue: hip dysplasia. She needed surgery.

In a video update, Jackie explained:

“We knew even when she was recovering, she was still gonna try and chase Mia all around. So we actually had Mia stay in my parent’s house for a month.”

Recovery and Reunion

Koda needed time and peace to heal, and although Mia is a chill cat, Koda couldn’t resist roughhousing with her. So for a full month, the two were apart while Koda recovered.

When Mia finally came back home, Koda couldn’t hold in her excitement. She bounced all over the place as Mia came out of her carrier – a reunion full of tail wags and purrs.

Happily Ever After

Today, Koda is healthy and pain-free. Her rough start in life didn’t stop her from finding love, safety, and a best friend in her cat sister.

As Jackie puts it:

“I think Koda prefers Mia more than Mike and I, she loves Mike and I, but she’s absolutely obsessed with Mia.”
