When Hope For Paws got the call about a terrified stray, they had no idea what was waiting for them. What they found was heartbreaking: a little dog named Rain, hiding, trembling, and too scared to move. Her ears were raw from fly bites, her fur was a matted mess, and her cries? Unlike anything they’d ever heard.
Rescuer Loreta Frankonyte gently lured Rain out of hiding with patience and a piece of burger. It took a calm touch and slow movements, but she managed to secure Rain without a struggle. Rain never lashed out – she just needed someone to show her kindness.
Once safe, Rain was taken to the vet for care. That’s when things took a turn for the heart-melting. During another rescue, Hope For Paws brought actress Allison Dunbar to meet Rain. It was love at first sight. Soon after, Allison and her husband Kyle (plus their pup Ernie) returned to make it official.
Rain got a new name – Sassy Pants Dunbar – and a new life full of snuggles, safety, and second chances. Watching her wag her tail, it’s hard to believe she’s the same dog.
