CCTV footage from the RSPCA’s Birmingham Animal Centre tells a story that’s hard to believe and even harder to watch. Around 8:05 AM on Saturday, August 26, a black Mercedes pulled into the center’s car park and stopped near the disabled bays. A man stepped out, took a dog from the boot, and walked toward the gates.
But moments later, he returned to his car without the dog and drove off quickly.

What he didn’t expect was that the dog, now named Roxy by rescue staff, would try to follow him. The CCTV shows her running back to where the car had been, confused and alone, pacing around the empty car park. It took 40 minutes before a staff member arrived and found her.
“It is so sad to think that someone thought it was okay to do this,” said RSPCA Chief Inspector Rebecca Cooper. “Being abandoned must have been extremely stressful.”
Roxy, a Staffordshire bull terrier-type, is now safe at the shelter and soaking up the love she should have received all along. A vet found some issues with her legs, possibly arthritis, but she’s getting the care she needs and plenty of affection from staff.
The RSPCA is asking for any information about the man who left her behind.
If this story broke your heart even a little, please share it. Roxy deserves better, and so do countless other animals like her. 🐶❤️
